Get Tips for Events Planning

Are you one of those people that thinks you can do it all yourself?

I know I am one of those personality types. I recently had my first trade show event to orchestrate and choose to take it all on myself...piece of cake right? Boy did I learn a valuable lesson. There are 2 ways for planning events, the easy way and the hard way. Unfortunately, I constantly choose the hard way. The result was simply expensive and unnecessary learning.

The first, and most valuable lesson was the need of hiring a professional event planner. Although the "show still goes on" the potential net gain for my business was missed from an abundance of total ignorance. I invested countless hours into making this event a success but when all was said and done I really could not see the forest through the trees. Out of sight, out of mind!

Let's try the next one with the help of a professional. I wanted to find a good corporate event planner so that I could learn many tricks, in the eyes of a pro. The first lesson I quickly learned was that a corporate event planner frees up your time to do other things. If you have not organized your own event before, when you do so you'll discover that planning events is time consuming and a complex undertaking.

Here are a few of the Lessons I learned

  • Organizing vendor delivery schedules
  • Look around throughout your business associates for good recommendations
  • Listen to the questions planners ask
  • Have questions ready to ask
  • Ask for references
  • Any reputable event planner will provide you with other references
  • Avoid spontaneous and unplanned events, they are destined to fail
  • Planning should be done with strategic expertise
  • When you need help, ask.
  • Prepare to showcase for your products and services
  • Hire the expertise of professional Event planners
  • Consult in a planner to learn what event will suit your company goals
  • Have good coordination of goods and services
  • Do Your Homework
  • Offer the best educational program to your audience
  • Is it affordable and accessible?
  • How easy will it be to sell to your audience

Full service corporate event planning is an area best left to people that have experience in corporate Event Planning 101. Being able to take it from the start requires a professional company or consultant if you truly want to leave your mark. Timing is also important in planning events. A good example of event timing is new car launches that take place in the fall. Consider the seasons and make appropriate arrangements before you finalize your plans. Have your web team make a webpage for each event constantly updating it. Video productions are highly rated in entertainment industry and compliment corporate events very well.

Common Event Questions

  1. What information can you get across?
  2. Do you know the time and expense?
  3. Do you have Measurable event objectives?
  4. Why are you holding your event? Landing a new clients, leads, product intro or awareness
